Purple and Gold Wedding at Franciscan’s Garden
Where do I even begin with these two? Jeannie and Brandon are California natives, more specific both alumni of the University of California, Irvine but it wasn’t until fate had their paths cross in New York did something magical happen. “Our courtship was easy and the rest is history,” Jeannie shared. Their commitment to each other has been one of the strongest bonds I’ve seen. They are each other cheerleaders and really do put in 100%+ for each other.
When they reached out to me to plan their wedding, I think I was the most head over heels for them. They knew they wanted to be in California where their families and friends are at and they knew the color theme for sure, purple and gold – just like Lakers, their favorite basketball team.
I don’t say this lightly but they truly have hearts of gold. One of the first things Jeannie shared with me is that in lieu of wedding favors they wanted to make donations on the behalf of their guests to Doctors Without Borders and The Dynasty Project, a non-profit that creates innovative programs that enrich local Asian American communities through athletics, and the pursuit of athletic endeavors. They are not only true Lakers fans but basketball lovers through and through.
I could go on and on about these two. But I must share one of my favorite details! Jennie’s family owned a donut store, Donut Boss, and so they provided the dessert for this wedding. Brandon and his dad made the donut wall display. Together it was such a perfect touch – who doesn’t like dessert?
From the bride:
“We met at a friend’s birthday party four years ago. I told my best friend I though he was cute… she went right up to him and told him. He was going to go home early but stayed out longer and even payed cover at a club even though he does not drink to keep hanging out with me.
For the proposal, we were on this small secluded hike to a waterfall in Iceland. We had we were headed to Paris after Iceland and he planned on doing it there but we were having such a good time that he proposed on day 2 of our 9 day trip! We were at dinner in Paris a few nights after we got engaged and for wedding planning, we decided to do purple and gold as we are both big fans of the Lakers! It was the first, quickest, and easiest decision we made.
Our tip to wedding planning is to find vendors who are passionate about what they do! It makes the planning process easier and it shows when you get your end product! Our family and friends kept complimenting our coordinator and our photographers even now. Genuine kindness shows through!”
